kitko bio
Kris Kitko is gaining much attention with her music and performances. The
Chicago Tribune claims that Kris Kitko can light up the room with her "disarming sense of humor" and "considerable talent."
Her musical skit "On Becoming a Woman and Other Lies" has brought down the house from Florida to Chicago and beyond.
Windy City Times claims that her humorous feminist tune, "The Bitch Song" has "anthem written all over it." Kitko delights
her audiences with a reminder that we've all got issues with her hysterical sing-along "Everybody's Family Is Messed Up (Including
Yours and Especially Mine)."
Every now and
then Kitko steps back into a more introspective mood and delivers gorgeous melodies and lyrics. "Feel" takes us down Any Street
in Any Town, USA, and gives us a door-to-door tour of the
lives of all those strangers living on your block--from the former homecoming queen to the retired truck driver. And for those
of you who have ever lost a pet and felt as though you would never recover, "We Buried Our Dog Today" will gently take your
hand and lead you into a room of friends who have all suffered and survived that experience.
But enough of
that...before you know it, Kris Kitko has you laughing again, maybe at a politician, maybe at the weather, or maybe at yourself.
Kitko has shared
the stage with Ferron, SONiA (of Disappear Fear), Rhiannon, Sarah Douger, Scott Free, and Chuck Suchy. She has performed at
Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music and at Women & Children First. Kitko
has been featured on radio programs such as Windy City Radio and Laney Goodman's "Women in Music."
Kris Kitko enjoys
being part of her community. Between appearances, she helps with fundraisers and other events. She has performed to raise
money for domestic violence programs, animal shelters, children's services, and urban renewal projects.
Kris is currently
recording her next CD release and is preparing for the shows to follow. And...she has announced her run for presidency on
the Slumber Party ticket! "I believe that if a bunch of women would get together for a series of whopper slumber parties,
we could solve the world's problems in no time." Kitko and her "girlfriends" plan to make a number of appearances promoting
her campaign and new CD. A portion of the proceeds will benefit domestic violence programs/women's programs in North
Dakota.
Guitar Noise
predicts that "Kitko is a name that will go far," and it's looking as though she's on her way.
